Pet Blessing

May the power of this blessing from Sophia fill you with life. May your unique animal nature bring a deep sense of kin-ship to your companion humans. Be kind to each other; enjoy a mutual humour and delight together in the simple pleasures of domestic life. In doing this may you joyfully praise your Creator. Amen

Candle lighting liturgy

We light a candle for domestic animals who share our lives
All: dogs, cats, chickens, birds

We light a candle for the animals in our environment, at home and at CERES:
All: Croaking frogs and beautiful butterflies, the wrens and rosellas who visit our gardens.

We light a candle for our native creatures:
All: Platypus, kookaburras, kangaroos, koalas and possums.

We light a candle fr the animals who provide food and clothing:
All: bees, fish, fowl, cattle and sheep.

We light a candle for Holy Sophia
Who spins and weaves and knits and sews and works the potter’s wheel: whose gentle hands have brought all creatures to inception, gestation and birth.
All: Creator of the web of life and source of all wisdom. Amen

And the dogs shall gather the crumbs from under the table…
