Making a Mark: Soul Craft – this week

ecodyedt

Wednesday night (August 13) is the next edition of the Winter Soul Food series, in the Eco-House, at CERES.  This week Jan will share her knowledge of creating dyes and making prints and patterns with naturally found and commonly occurring substances – like leaves and petals and guess what else? Lots of surprising things but you will have to come to find out what some of them might be. We are so used to colour in our lives – in our clothing and textiles especially. However, commercial dyes are notorious for doing harm to the environment (including to the humans doing the dyeing). Yet, beautiful colours and patterns can be created in ways that are much safer and healthier for all. So come along, have some fun and learn something new (or share your knowledge and experience about eco-dying). It is not necessary, as Jan will have bits of fabric for you to play with – but you might like to bring an old pale coloured cotton shirt or  pillowcase to give a new lease of life to.  Eco-dying is always a surprising adventure – and who doesnt want more of this in their life!

Important to wear old clothes or bring an apron.  Gloves will be provided

6.30 for soup and bread   7.00 – 9.00pm for the session (with a break about 8 for cake and tea/coffee) Cost: $10
RSVP text or phone call to  Jan  on 0402 774 883 would be a help for catering
