Candle Lighting Prayer Sunday July 21, 2013
We light the candles for this land of beauty and terror and its original inhabitants
For the wattle and iron bark
The wallaby and platypus
The rosella and cockatoo
For our aboriginal and islander neighbours
Our North African and Asian friends
For the equality of all people whatever colour, confessional creed, sexuality
And the candle for the One who brings us together, who meets us in the world, who understands our humanity.
(written by Jean Ross for the service led by her)
